Period 1 Battle!
In an anticipated match-up, Jenna and the Spartans went to battle against the tiny polis of Troy, fresh off of their victory against the Argive forces. Sparta carried in a 10 troop advantange, but some early round failings on the parts of the Spartan attacks left the battle at a stalemate. Finally the Spartan ranks proved too much for Troy to handle, and the Spartans pushed their way into the city, showing no mercy as they cruelly looted the polis taking 50% of their land, 80% of their gold and sheep, and killing 80% of their troops in the process.
Period 8 Battle!
In a close battle, Devon of Ithaca, who because of a serious plague affecting his polis fought without allies, marched against Brittney and the small but tightly knit Athenian alliance. Both armies were almost equally matched, but a late round successful attack tipped the balance of power to the Ithacans, and Devon left victorious.
Period 1 Battle!
Period 1 experienced two battles today, each inspiring in its own way.
Stephen of Athens engaged the Spartan alliance of Brent, Dylan, and Tyler, hoping to catch them off their guard after their defeat of Argos last week. Though there was some contention about 3 Spartan troops who apparently should not have been fighting, the Athenians held their own in early rounds of battle. However, an unlucky assault in which only one man out of 10 made it into to fray cost the Athenians dearly. Rumor has it that a pestilence currently plaguing Athens may have contributed to this bit of unluckiness and the Spartans second victory.
In the second battle of the day, Cory of Argos invaded the polis of Troy against the recommendation of his fellow polis members. Perhaps fired up by hearing the sad tale of the mythological destruction of Troy, Trojan troops fought hard, and though their poplulation in their polis has dwindled, managed to defeat the reluctant Argive alliance. Only time will tell if this setback will be a starting point for greatness in Argos, or if dissention will tear the polis apart. In the meantime, there is much reveling in the polis of Troy, though apparently, no horses are invited to the celebration.

Period 1 Battle!
In the first battle of Semester 2, Marc and the powerful Spartan alliance engaged the peaceful Argive forces of Brian and his allies. Much to the surprise of those involved, there were almost even troops on each side of the campaign. Although the troops from Argos got off to a stronger start, no doubt thanks to the oratory skills of their leader, the resilient Spartans charged back and ended up with the victory. Sparta left the battle with minor land gains, but the fury of battle claimed 80% of their troops, a Pyrrhic victory indeed.

Who offended Demeter?
A freak weather system has moved into ancient Greece, paralyzing the land with snow and ice. Rumor has it that someone offended Demeter, and she is currently venting her ire by freezing everything she can get her hands on. As a result, there is no polis news, as people hunker down just trying to stay warm.

The Horde Devastates the Greeks
Perhaps focusing too much on battle preparations, most polises were caught off guard as a powerful horde of barbarians moved through the Greek regions, destroying land and stealing gold as they went. Perhaps polises will devote more energies to the building of stronger fortifications around their towns, lest the barbarians weak havoc on them again in the not so distant future.
In period 2 news, Jackson of Ithaca has declared battle against Brittany of Athens.
In period 8 news, peace continues to reign.
